Bowdoin Organic Garden Seedling Sale May 22nd (Lisa Beneman)

Warm weather got you daydreaming about your garden? Me too!

While we still have some time before the ground actually warms up enough for most annuals, the greenhouse at the organic garden is very full of growing seedlings!

The annual BOG Seedling Sale will be Wednesday, May 22nd from 11-1:30 on Hyde Plaza! There will be tons of vegetable seedlings like tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, and squash, plus lots of herbs, perennials, flowers, and more.

Big box stores are starting to tempt you with seedlings now, but remember, it is still way too early to get those tomatoes unless you intend to keep them inside for a while! With an eye towards chilly nights, you can carefully start to plant things like peas, spinach, hearty greens, and onions but most plants need consistent soil temperatures of at least 60 degrees to be happy and healthy. Focus on hearty perennials and frost resistant annuals for now!

If you have any questions about the seedling sale or the Bowdoin Organic Garden, feel free to reach out to Lisa!
