You are invited to come at 8:45am or earlier to get breakfast in Thorne and then join us in Daggett to the right of Thorne when you check in.  If you don’t want breakfast, just head right into Daggett.  We will start the workshop promptly at 9:00. 

 

What is Affirming@Bowdoin?

Affirming@Bowdoin is the newer version of the Safe Zone Project. It is a workshop designed to create an opportunity for staff and faculty who support students and community members of all gender identities and sexual orientations to make visible their support by displaying an Affirming@Bowdoin decal. The decal indicates one’s support and participation in a workshop that covers a basic understanding of sexual orientation and gender identity/expression.

Why sign up for the Affirming@Bowdoin workshop?

You are looking for a way to let students and colleagues know that you are an ally.

You want to learn more about supporting Bowdoin’s LGBTIQA community.

You want to get one of those rainbow stickers you have seen around campus.

You inherited a sticker on your door, but you know you didn’t attend the workshop yet to get it.

**Hourly employees can report their participation in this event as paid work. We ask that you receive prior approval from your supervisor before registering and attending. If you took the Safe Zone or Affirming workshop in the past few years, you do not need to attend this year, but you are always welcome. If you attended in the past and did not get a new sticker, please reach out and ask for one – but only if you have indeed attended one of the workshops.
