Two steps forward...Enroll additional Okta Factors NOW! Don't get locked out of classes, rooms or homework! (Sherry Saxida)

Don't get left out of classes, rooms, or homework! Enroll additional Okta factors NOW

If you only have a single "factor" in your Bowdoin Okta account, and you lose, replace, or that "factor" gets damaged, then you can't sign in to ANY Bowdoin service, including Polaris, Canvas, VPN, or even sign up for rooms next semester! (Yes, the "factor" we're talking about is your smartphone for most of you.)

Did you know you can have more than one factor in your Okta account? These can be used to both speed up login process time AND allow you to access Okta and set up a new phone if yours tragically falls into a puddle of melting snow and gets crushed by a passing car, without needing to wait for the Tech Hub to open.

All students are provided a MacBook Pro and an iPad. Both can be used to enable additional Okta factors. You can add Okta Verify to your iPad and set it up as a secondary device and you can enable Touch ID on your laptop (you should anyway because it's SO FAST) and configure what's known as "webauthN" which allows you to use your finger print on your laptop as a way to log in to Bowdoin services without needing your phone (in most cases, there are some exceptions).

If your only factor (aka smartphone) does succumb to a tragic end or is replaced with a newer model, and you don't have an alternate factor set up in advance AND you don't follow the steps to transfer from your old device to your new device first you will need to come to the Tech Hub only during our regular business hours, for someone to help you. This means that you can't get your assignments or check that class schedule.

Our recommendation? Don't delay and add additional factors today!
