Seniors: Apply for the Dunlap Prize ($1350 award!) (Avery Friend)

The Dunlap Prize application is now live on Qualtrics!

The Dunlap Prize was established by Katherine Wood Dunlap in memory of her husband, Brigadier General Robert H. Dunlap, USMC. It is awarded annually to 1-2 Bowdoin students based on two criteria:

1) the level of commitment to service the student has demonstrated while at Bowdoin; and

2) the strength of the essay the student submits on the subject of service.

The Dunlap prize is open to all seniors.

If you would like to be considered for this prize, which carries a monetary award of $1,350, please submit the following by 9:00 AM on Monday, April 15, 2024:

1) A finished piece of original writing (up to 2 pages, double-spaced) that expresses your philosophy of community engagement as informed by your experience as a Bowdoin student; successful essays will include your philosophy and what you have learned rather than a recounting of what you have done;

2) A résumé that includes your principal service activities while at Bowdoin, with a brief description of your role in each activity;

3) Two references (contact info only) of people with whom you've worked during your time at Bowdoin that the selection committee could contact to learn more about your contribution to service.
