All Bowdoin Students: Call for Submissions for the 2022-23 English Department Writing Prizes (Laurie Holland)
Deadline: Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 4:00 p.m.
Go to the English department prizes webpage for instructions and to download and print a submission form. Entries will not be accepted without a submission form. Questions? Contact the English Department coordinator at lholland@bowdoin.edu.
FICTION Prizes: submit one work of no more than 6,000 words, double-spaced pages
Hawthorne Prize is awarded to the best short story written by a sophomore, junior, or senior
Sinkinson Prize is awarded to the best short story written by a junior or senior
NONFICTION Prize: submit one work of no more than 6000 words, double-spaced pages
Bowdoin Nonfiction Prize is awarded for the best work of creative nonfiction by an undergraduate (any class year).
COMPOSITION Prizes: submit one work of no more than 6000 words, double-spaced pages
David Sewall Premium is awarded for the best work in English composition to a member of the first-year class.
Pray Prize is awarded to the best work of original English literature scholarship and composition to a senior.
POETRY Prizes for best work of poetry. Open to all undergraduates. Submit no more than five poems.

BROWN PRIZE
Open only to Bowdoin seniors. Come to Massachusetts Hall on Friday, April 7 at 4:30 pm to write a composition on an assigned topic. Entries judged by English Department faculty.
