Parable of the Sower Opera Tickets Available to Students FRIDAY, MARCH 3 (Avery Friend)

We are delighted to announce that this Friday, March 3 at 8:00 AM, student tickets for Octavia E. Butler’s Parable of the Sower Opera will go live! The culmination of Toshi Reagon’s Fellowship, this performance—presented by Indigo Arts Alliance and Portland Ovations in association with Bowdoin—will be held at Merrill Auditorium in Portland on Friday, April 14 at 7:00 PM.

Based on the landmark sci-fi novels by Afrofuturist author Octavia E. Butler, Parable of the Sower is a genre-defying, modern congregational opera that celebrates two centuries of Black music. Written by Toshi Reagon and Bernice Johnson Reagon, this performance is the culmination of Toshi Reagon's Fellowship and will be presented by Indigo Arts Alliance and Portland Ovations in association with Bowdoin.

Tickets to this performance will be FREE to Bowdoin students, and can be requested via Campus Groups as of Friday, March 3. Tickets are already sold-out to the broader community and space is limited, so please only register for a ticket if you are certain that you can make the event. Tickets are limited to one per student. Transportation to Portland and back to campus will be provided. Please reach out to Monica Bouyea or Sarah Seames with questions.
