Tuesday, February 28 - The Kenneth V. Santagata Memorial Lecture featuring Alison Bechdel (Jennifer Berube)

Date: Tuesday, February 28, 2023
Time: 7:30 PM
Location: Kresge Auditorium

Alison Bechdel is a cartoonist whose darkly humorous graphic memoirs, astute writing, and evocative drawing have forged an unlikely intimacy with a wide and disparate range of readers. Her award-winning work includes the comic strip Dykes to Watch Out For, called “one of the pre-eminent oeuvres in the comics genre, period” by Ms. Magazine; and Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic, a graphic novel named Best Book of the year and called “a masterpiece” by TIME. Fun Home was adapted into a Broadway musical that has won five Tony Awards, including “Best Musical.” Bechdel also is the author of the graphic memoirs Are You My Mother? A Comic Drama, and The Secret to Superhuman Strength. Bechdel received a 2012 Guggenheim Fellowship and in 2014 a MacArthur “Genius Grant.”

Sponsored by the Kenneth V. Santagata Memorial Fund.
